Melbourne Do's - What you must do while you're in Melbourne

Drive to Great Ocean Road and go all the way up to the Twelve Apostles. Don't forget to carry an on-board GPS in your car.
The pubs and bars in Melbourne are simply amazing. Find out which one suits your fancy, spend time over there, and take back home some great memories.
Travel in the old city circle tram that still operates within the Melbourne CBD. It's free and it'll take you around Melbourne CBD.
Enjoy the Victorian architecture from the 19th and 20th century in Melbourne CBD.
Visit Docklands. It is a suburb in the outskirts of Melbourne CBD and boasts a few great restaurants where you can enjoy a nice wine and dine experience by the docks. Simply stunning!
Go to the Eureka Skydeck Tower and witness Melbourne it its full glory from 'The Edge' which is at a height of about 300m. Enjoy panoramic ariel views of Melbourne and it's suburbs.
Visit the Queen Victoria Market for witnessing a multi-cultural hub of sellers of exotic fruits and vegetables.
Drive to the Yarra Valley Vineyards. Remember to take your GPS.
Spend an evening watching the sunset on the St Kilda Pier. You can take Tram #96 from Bourke Street.
Go to Smith Street in Collingwood for the strangest possible shops. You can take Tram #86 from Bourke Street.
For some exciting, niche and expensive shopping, visit the suburb of Prahran (Chapel Street) and Richmond (Bridge Road) or even the Chadstone Shopping Centre, in Chadstone.
Spend an afternoon at Federation Square (opposite Flinders Street Station).
Enjoy delicious Italian food on Lygon Street (Carlton). Take a tram from Swanston Street and get off at the Melbourne University tram stop. Lygon Street is a 5 minute walk from here.

Go to Kings Street in Melbourne CBD for its larger than life scene of nightclubs and strip joints.
Melbourne Don'ts - What you shouldn't do while you're in Melbourne
Don't use taxis in Melbourne during daytime. The public transport system in Melbourne is one of the best in the world.
If I were you, I wouldn't travel in public transport after 11pm on weekends.
Don't spend your time indoors. Melbourne is too beautiful, exciting and alive to watch from the confines of a hotel room window.
Don't go to Kings Street if strip clubs and shady joints are not your cup of tea. Kings Street is one of the most violence-prone street in Melbourne.
Don't eat at shabby looking food joints in the Melbourne CBD. If they look shabby, they are shabby. No exceptions.
Don't carry a knife or a sharp edged weapon with you. I know you won't, but just in case you are a crazy pumped up maniac who likes to do so, let me warn you that Melbourne has strict knife laws.
If you are visiting Melbourne, don't choose an accommodation which is more than 10 minutes of travelling time by public transport from the Melbourne CBD. The last thing you want to do is spend more time travelling from one place to another. If I were you, the Melbourne CBD or St Kilda would be the only two suburbs I'd choose to stay if I was visiting Melbourne.
Don't book your stay right away. Scout for great deals, especially of Serviced Apartments in St Kilda or Melbourne CBD. They are a great way to cut down on your expenditure. After all, you're going to come to your room only to sleep, aren't you?
